For the same price as a regular Promenade Stateroom (which is not much more than an inside stateroom), We booked the unique Ben & Jerry’s Sweet Suite. Located in room 6305 on the Freedom Class ships, it sits right above the Ben & Jerry’s shop on the Royal Promenade. Because of the obstructed view out the window (cow behinds and sign), those staying in the room receive a specially decorated room along with some perks.
The theme of cows can be seen with decorations throughout the room. The one perk which drove us to book this room was that we receive free ice cream each day of the cruise. Having an abundance supply of ice cream (medium size of 2 scoops in a cup) was nice but features of the room I was really impressed by was the Sweet Suite benefits. In the room we were given robes to wear and plates of fruit and snacks were occasionally dropped off for us.
Usually you have to spend thousands of dollars for a suite to receive the pampering which goes along with the “Gold Card”. Because our room gains most of the benefits the suite guests receive, we were able to swap our standard blue Sea Pass cards for the gold suite class cards. This granted us access to the Suite Lounge where we could grab free alcohol and snacks every evening before dinner. There’s also reserved suite seating in the theater to grant you a nice view of the entertainment.
We were planning on debarking the ship as soon as possible at the end of our cruise so we could start our long drive home. By having suite perks, we were escorted off the ship before anyone else and faced no lines all the way through security and customs. It was so seamless that I’m afraid it has spoiled us for any future cruise (since we are unlikely to afford a real suite anytime soon).
